We acknowledge with gratitude that we gather on the traditional and unceded territory of the Quw’utsun (Cowichan) Peoples. We honour their deep and ongoing relationship to this land, waters, and community since time immemorial. As a church, we recognize the harms caused by colonization and the role Christian institutions have played in that history. We hold this truth with humility and a commitment to listen, learn, and do better. We are called not only to acknowledge the land, but to care for it and for one another. We commit ourselves to walking a path of reconciliation, building respectful relationships, supporting Indigenous voices and leadership, and seeking ways to act with justice and love in our community. May this acknowledgment move us beyond words and into meaningful action, today and in the future.
